The purpose of this job is…
The Product Manager, Portfolio Optimisation plays a key role in shaping and enhancing the value proposition across our health insurance product portfolio.
You’ll be responsible for identifying and driving opportunities to simplify products, reduce unnecessary complexity, and improve clarity and consistency for both customers and frontline teams. This includes reviewing existing products, benefits, and features, and designing thoughtful improvements that enhance customer understanding while aligning with business and regulatory objectives.
Acting as a strong customer champion, you’ll ensure that all portfolio changes deliver fair, transparent outcomes while supporting sustainable commercial performance. With a focus on continuous improvement, you’ll help evolve the portfolio to meet changing customer needs and market expectations, creating simpler, more meaningful health insurance experiences that benefit both our customers and our business.
This is a 12-18 month opportunity, and can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
Responsibilities or duties
- Partner with portfolio and product leaders to shape and deliver a clear, customer-focused approach to portfolio optimisation and simplification
- Champion the customer by leading product design initiatives, including benefit and feature rationalisation and improvements to product structures
- Provide strategic and hands-on product management across optimisation initiatives, defining product intent, customer impacts, success metrics and implementation approach
- Identify and drive opportunities to enhance portfolio sustainability and performance by reducing complexity, inconsistency and low-value features
- Lead product assessments, including qualitative and strategic reviews, to inform prioritisation and design decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Actuarial, Finance, Technology, Legal, Risk, Compliance and Go-to-Market) to deliver commercially sound, implementable outcomes
- Support governance processes and provide subject-matter expertise through clear product recommendations and stakeholder engagement
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Experience needed
- Proven experience in product management within insurance or financial services
- Private Health Insurance (PHI) experience is highly regarded
- Demonstrated success delivering large-scale product migrations
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence and advise senior and executive leaders
- Strong capability in product design, including benefit and feature definition, and commercial decision-making
- Experience working across complex product portfolios and/or large-scale change initiatives
- Passion for delivering positive customer outcomes, with a focus on fairness, clarity and value
- Confidently challenges the status quo, bringing fresh thinking and constructive challenge to drive better outcomes and continuous improvement
