About Akura

Akura is a leading construction and property development company providing industrial property solutions to owner-occupiers, developers, and investors. Operating for over 50 years, we’ve built our reputation on quality, on-time delivery, and innovative design.

We are a family-owned company with a progressive values-based culture, a healthy pipeline of work and big plans for future growth. Our unique product offering supports our clients across the full construction cycle, from architectural and structural design, in-house manufacturing of structural steel and precast concrete panels, through to on-site teams and project management.

The result? Industrial Specialists.

Whether you’re an experienced Team Leader with a strong background in factory or production environments, or someone with hands-on experience in construction or a related industry, we’d love to hear from you. If you have a trade qualification—such as a carpenter, cabinetmaker, builder, concreter, roofer, or steel fixer—or if you have a strong eye for detail and experience in formwork, carpentry, or similar tasks, this is a great opportunity to join us as a senior operator.

Key Responsibilities

As a Precast Team Leader, some of the things you’ll do may include:

  • Maintaining a safe workplace and prioritize team wellness
  • Completing necessary machine training and sign off on Safe Operating Procedures before use
  • Leading designated teams to achieve daily targets and maintain productivity
  • Modelling Akura values, setting an example for the team
  • Supporting the Precast Manager and Foreman in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Interpreting shop drawings
  • Marking out panels as per shop drawings
  • Preparing timbers and foam to place inside panels
  • Installing formwork on tables prior to concrete pours
  • Preparing and installing reinforcement for each precast panel
  • Pouring concrete / managing the concrete pour
  • Finishing the concrete

About You

Skills in the following would be highly advantageous:

  • 3 years’ experience in the building industry
  • Extensive experience in interpreting shop drawings
  • A natural flair for detailed work such as carpentry, formwork or similar
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on quality, always seeking to deliver your best work
  • A current driver’s license
  • Experience in leading a team

You Will Be

  • A team player with strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Someone who takes a safety-first approach in everything you do!
  • Someone who identifies and embraces opportunities for improvement
  • Someone who aspires to lead a small team – you won’t do this on day one, but over time this is something you’ll grow into

What We Offer You

  • An exciting career opportunity in a market-leading business experiencing rapid growth
  • The opportunity to work in one place, out of the weather in our precast manufacturing facility in Kelso
  • Opportunity to grow your career – we invest in our people
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Inclusion in the Akura Factory Bonus Scheme
