We are seeking passionate individuals ready to bring their skills to some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Northern Australia. This isn’t just a job, it’s an opportunity to support the social and economic development of remote communities.
As the highest-level Operations Manager for our retail division, you will provide the strategic oversight and high-level project management necessary to ensure our essential community stores thrive.
Responsibilities or duties
- Lead the strategic direction of the retail division rather than day-to-day operational tasks
- Provide high-level mentorship and management to Regional Managers and the GM of Retail
- Drive complex project management initiatives to improve store efficiency and service delivery
- Maintain full accountability for the financial performance, recruitment strategies, and turnover across the retail network
- Navigate unpredictable environments and crisis management scenarios with composure and decisive action
- Bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the unique logistical challenges of remote Arnhem Land
Qualifications or requirements
You are a confident yet empathetic leader who thrives in environments where no two days are the same.
- Extensive experience in senior retail management within grocery, department stores (e.g., Kmart, Bunnings, Target), or food services
- Strong background in independent retail environments where flexibility is favored over rigid corporate scheduling
- High-level financial acumen and the ability to manage complex budgets without requiring a formal finance qualification
- Proven ability to remain accountable and independent while managing a remote workforce
- Resilience and empathy to handle unique regional situations, from community evacuations to emergency logistics
Mandatory Requirements
- Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)
- National Police Clearance
- Current Australian Driver’s License
- Ability to travel to remote communities one week per month (flexible arrangements)
