The Department of Neurology at Austin Health is one of Victoria’s largest and most comprehensive neurology units, renowned for its excellence in clinical care, research, and education. It has established an international reputation in the management of stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis, while also providing expert services across all major neurological subspecialties, including movement disorders, neuroimmunology, neurooncology, neurophysiology, and neuropsychiatry.

Responsibilities or duties

This position involves care of patients with neuroimmunological diseases and supervised neurophysiological testing of patients referred to the Neurology Department. The position holder is also expected to participate in teaching, training, research and performance appraisal.

A regular day will see you:

• Care of outpatients, inpatients and Ambulatory Care Centre patients with neuroimmunological diseases, including MS, NMOSD, Myasthenia Gravis, autoimmune encephalitis and autoimmune peripheral nerve/muscle diseases
• Supervised testing of outpatients and inpatients referred for nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG)
• Regular attendance at outpatient clinics each week, including General Neurology, Neuroimmunology and MS Trials Clinics
• Actively participate in the research activities of the Neuroimmunology service (NCRESS) including role of sub-investigator and blinded assessor for currently active trials in MS.
