Calexi is seeking a capable and security-minded Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure network and gateway capabilities across cloud and hybrid environments.

This role is offered on a casual basis, with a clear opportunity to transition to a permanent position for the right candidate. It is suited to an engineer who can deliver immediately while demonstrating the capability, judgement, and professionalism to grow with the business.

You will contribute to delivering resilient, well-governed, and secure network services in complex, mission-critical environments.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and support secure gateway, firewall, and network connectivity services across cloud and hybrid environments
• Deliver secure cloud networking solutions including routing, segmentation, and hybrid connectivity patterns
• Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise firewall solutions including policy management, NAT, routing, high availability, and secure remote access
• Support network security operations through troubleshooting, incident response, root cause analysis, remediation, and continuous improvement
• Produce high-quality technical artefacts including architecture diagrams, build guides, standards, and operational runbooks
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for network and gateway services
• Develop repeatable deployment methods using Infrastructure as Code and automation
• Support change and release activities including impact assessment, rollback planning, validation, and controlled implementation
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure services meet security, availability, and performance requirements
• Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to team members

What we are looking for

• Strong experience designing and supporting secure network and perimeter architectures across enterprise and cloud environments
• Hands-on experience with cloud networking including VPCs, routing, VPNs, hybrid connectivity, and secure access design
• Experience deploying and managing enterprise firewall solutions, including virtualised or cloud-based implementations
• Strong understanding of network security controls including segmentation, controlled ingress and egress, least privilege, and Zero Trust principles
• Experience integrating network security solutions with logging, identity, and SIEM platforms
• Strong troubleshooting and operational support capability across network and security incidents
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code or automation tooling for network deployments
• Ability to produce clear, defensible technical documentation
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience working in Defence or other regulated environments
• Exposure to large-scale or data-intensive platforms
• Relevant network or security certifications
