Whites Group is an energetic and progressive Australian Family-owned business that is geared for growth. We are a key supplier to both the Retail Home Improvement and Rural Hardware markets.
The Role
We currently have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Manager to join our team based at Dandenong South. This is a Greenfields site with five brand new injection moulding machines and great new technology to manufacture recycled plastics products that sell in the Hardware and Export markets.
Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, this role will be an integral senior leadership role and will have a team of up to 22 employees, including 5 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the manufacturing team, including goal setting, performance management, recruitment, training, and capability development.
- Manage the manufacturing budget, control expenses, and work closely with the General Manager on CAPEX/OPEX requirements.
- Plan and schedule production in partnership with Supply Chain & Operations to meet forecasted demand and achieve KPI targets.
- Oversee supplier liaison, component ordering, equipment layout planning, and material flow to ensure optimal cost, quality, and efficiency.
- Ensure production performance, volume, and quality goals are met through effective processes and staffing levels.
- Coordinate with Operations Managers to ensure a smooth transition from manufactured goods into warehouse stock (WMS) and support export requirements.
- Manage Syspro activities related to Bill of Materials and Work in Progress.
- Champion WHS compliance by modelling safe behaviours, driving safety improvements, and collaborating with the WHS Advisor.
- Contribute to strategic planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and Senior Leadership Team objectives.
Required Skills & Experience
- Five or more years’ senior experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment
- Experience managing a manufacturing site (injection moulding experience highly desired but not essential)
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong team leadership and organisational skills
- Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude
- Ability to work to agreed timeframes and meet required deadlines
- Models safe work practices and ensures the team acts in accordance with safe work methods
