About the role
You will lead the delivery and ongoing development of online learning and professional development initiatives that support Fellows, Trainees and medical professionals connected to the College.
In this role, you will manage courses, projects and digital learning platforms, ensuring they are delivered on time, aligned with organisational priorities, and informed by contemporary education practices. The position also contributes to identifying opportunities to extend and commercialise education products developed through College activities. Reporting to the General Manager, Knowledge, Learning and Assessment, you will lead two teams responsible for learning innovation and professional development, supporting both day-to-day delivery and longer-term planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage online learning and professional development projects from planning through to delivery
- Guide teams to develop practical learning solutions that meet member and stakeholder needs
- Work with internal stakeholders to plan and prioritise learning initiatives aligned with strategic goals
- Oversee relationships with digital platform vendors and external partners
- Identify opportunities to expand and commercialise education products and services
- Manage partnerships and external collaborations, including the International Medical Robotics Academy
- Support accreditation activities through provision of education and learning evidence
- Provide reporting and secretariat support to relevant committees and working groups
- Contribute strategic guidance to the College’s JDocs offering for prevocational and junior doctors
This role is full time, parental leave cover until February 2027.

The Pathways to Fellowship area supports education, training and professional development across the surgical career pathway. The team works closely with educators, clinicians, committees, and digital specialists to deliver accessible and high-quality learning opportunities. You will collaborate with colleagues across Knowledge, Learning and Assessment, Continuing Professional Development, Digital Services, and education leadership teams, as well as external partners and subject matter experts.
The team values collaboration, thoughtful planning, and continuous improvement in how learning is designed and delivered.
About you
You are an experienced people leader who is comfortable managing projects, guiding teams, and working with a wide range of stakeholders. You bring a practical approach to delivering education initiatives and are confident balancing operational delivery with longer-term planning.
You will bring:
- Postgraduate qualifications in education, business administration, or a related field
- Experience managing education products, programmes, or learning initiatives
- Experience working with complex stakeholders to develop strategies and delivery plans
- Strong programme or project management experience, including managing competing priorities and deadlines
- Understanding of higher education or professional learning environments
- Experience working with digital learning platforms and external vendors
- Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to present and negotiate with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership experience supporting and developing teams
- Collaborative and adaptable working style
