JOB DETAILS:
Simon George & Sons has been keeping Australia’s top chefs, hotels, and institutions stocked with premium fruit and vegetables since 1927. Four generations on, we’re still family-owned, freshness-obsessed, and serious about delivering the goods.
We’re on the hunt for a hands-on Leading Hand to keep our Darwin warehouse humming. If you’re a natural organiser, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and know how to rally a team while rolling up your own sleeves, this is the role for you.
About the Role
Kick off your day at 2:30am, Monday to Friday. Part-time role with the opportunity to step into full-time
Work alongside the Warehouse Supervisor to keep daily operations sharp, safe, and on target
Allocate runs, assign orders, and make sure every dispatch hits the right truck at the right time
Check off paperwork, handle handovers, and keep Customer Service in the loop
Lead by example — this is a boots-on-the-ground role
Jump on the forklift, help pick/pack, and get produce out the door when the team needs a lift
Champion safety: first aid, fire checks, daily forklift inspections — you’ll help keep standards high
What You’ll Bring
Proven warehouse leadership experience (produce experience a bonus)
High-risk forklift licence
Physically fit, organised, and sharp on detail
Great communicator who can keep the team on track and the vibe positive
First Aid and Fire Warden certificates (or willing to get them)
What You’ll Get
?️ Weekly team lunches – we eat well around here
? A monthly fresh produce box – straight from our warehouse to your kitchen
? A paid day off on your birthday – go celebrate properly
? Milestone bonuses – loyalty gets rewarded
? Employee Assistance Program – support for you and your family when it matters
? We’re serious about safety — it’s how we look after each other, our customers, and our community. That includes regular and random drug and alcohol testing as part of everyday work at SGS.
Why You’ll Love It Here
This isn’t just another warehouse role. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team that works hard, has each other’s backs, and takes pride in delivering Australia’s best fresh produce. For the right person, there’s plenty of room to grow — and you’ll do it in a business with nearly 100 years of history and a whole lot of energy for the future.
