Background

This role is within the Department of Lands, Planning and Environment – Regional Ecosystems and Landscape Mapping (REALM).

Responsibilities/Roles:

  • Plan and undertake fieldwork in remote areas.
  • Maintain field equipment (soil rigs, vehicles, comms gear).
  • Collect soil and vegetation data.
  • Collate data into corporate databases.
  • Use GIS to compile geodatabases and reports.
  • Liaise with agencies and stakeholders.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan and conduct fieldwork.
  • Knowledge of natural resource assessment techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and GIS software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Teamwork and independent work ability.
  • NT Driver’s Licence and 4WD proficiency.

Desirable:

  • Scientific/technical qualification, knowledge of NT landscapes, mechanical skills.
