Labour Planning Officer – North Sydney Terminal
Casual | 12-Month Contract | Rotating Day/Night Shifts | Full Training Provided
Join Pacific National – Australia’s largest private rail freight operator.
Every day we transport millions of tonnes of critical freight around the country for our customers. We’re now looking for a detail-oriented, safety-focused Labour Planning Officer to join our North Sydney team. This critical role supports the day-of-operations service delivery teams to keep our network running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and allocate train crew to services in line with rosters and operational requirements
- Monitor real-time network performance and respond to service disruptions
- Manage incidents and operational changes to minimise impact on customers
- Update and maintain labour and safety management systems with accurate data
- Communicate critical operational updates to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with service delivery, maintenance, and network teams to keep services running
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and support crew welfare
What You’ll Bring
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise under pressure
- Excellent communication – verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Collaborative team player comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent Microsoft Office and computer skills
- Knowledge of transport or logistics planning is an advantage
- Flexibility to work rotating day/night shifts, weekends, and public holidays
