A leading Townsville-based mining organisation with operations in the greater Townsville region is seeking an IT Support Engineer to work on a DIDO (Drive-In, Drive-Out) basis.

Responsibilities or duties

Your new role will see you work within this small but dedicated multidisciplinary IT Support Team to work on the site’s systems and networking infrastructure.

The projects on-site involve Cisco network hardware refreshes, upgrading purpose-built-on prem data centres, virtualisation maintenance (VMware/vCenter), Windows Server deployments and resolving Windows 10 tickets, to name a few. Overall, these projects will see you design, build and maintain the current and new IT/network infrastructure alongside managing vendors, suppliers and others (project dependent) to meet the IT leaderships roadmap.

Qualifications or requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in heavy industry, mining experience advantageous. We are seeking a strong, autonomous, all-round IT Systems engineer with experience across a range of hardware platforms, the Microsoft Ecosystem and networking technologies in large enterprise level environments.

Experience needed

You will need experience/knowledge of the following:

  • The Microsoft ecosystem – Windows Servers and Desktop OS (such as Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, Windows 10, etc), Microsoft 365, SCCM, etc
  • Configuration of networking/infrastructure platforms (Switches, Routers, Access Points, etc)
  • Hardware (Desktops, Laptops, Mobile Devices etc) maintenance and deployment/rollouts
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Technical mindset
  • Working with individuals across all levels of an organisation
  • Working in the mining sector as a bonus
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Full Australian working rights

The working hours (and conditions) for this role are on a DIDO (Drive-In, Drive-Out) basis from Townsville (roughly an hour and a half drive) on 8:6 rosters (8 days on, 6 days off). Once on-site, all accommodation and meals are paid for and supplied by the organisation.

You will work on a Wed-Wed roster, working the hours of 6am-6pm. Travel paid included as your first day rostered on site.

You will be offered a DIDO contract role, paying competitive rates. This is an initial 6-month engagement, with the opportunity to extend pending site requirements. You will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and police check prior to commencing. Random drug and alcohol tests are conducted on site.
