Description
All Things Equal is a hospitality based social enterprise providing award-wage employment, training and pathways toward meaningful careers for people with disability. Through our cafés, venues, catering and programs, we operate high quality hospitality businesses while creating inclusive, supportive and ambitious workplaces.
Our work is grounded in excellence, dignity and the belief that when people are properly supported, they thrive.
We currently operate a flourishing café in Balaclava, a pop-up site in West Melbourne, a local football club canteen, and deliver catering and events throughout the year, including an outlet at the upcoming Australian Grand Prix.
In 2026, we are entering our next chapter of growth – expanding with a major new site at the iconic Abbotsford Convent, one of Australia’s most loved arts and cultural precincts. This expansion is an opportunity to scale our impact, strengthen our operational foundations and showcase inclusive hospitality to more than 700,000 visitors each year.
To support this next phase, we are creating a new General Manager role, a pivotal senior leadership position responsible for leading operations across all All Things Equal sites and ensuring we grow with quality, consistency and care.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager is responsible for the effective leadership and delivery of day-to-day operations across all the All Things Equal hospitality sites.
This role ensures safe, consistent and high-performing hospitality operations while embedding ATE’s values, Employment Pathway Program and inclusive practices into everyday systems, leadership and decision-making.
You will play a critical role in supporting and developing site leaders, strengthening culture, and building the operational discipline required to support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Performance
Lead day-to-day multi-site hospitality operations, ensuring safe, compliant and high-performing venues. Drive consistency across kitchens and front of house, embedding hospitality excellence through strong systems, clear standards and continuous improvement.
People & Culture
Champion ATE’s values in action. Coach and develop Site Managers and hospitality leaders, build psychologically safe and inclusive teams, and oversee clear performance standards and expectations.
Workforce & Capability
Oversee staffing, rosters and operational budgets. Partner with HR on recruitment and retention, and strengthen leadership capability across sites to support both employees and trainees.
Alignment & Growth
Ensure strong alignment between hospitality operations and our Employment Pathway Program. Act as a key liaison to the CEO and represent All Things Equal with professionalism across partners and stakeholders.
Our Dream Candidate
You are an experienced senior hospitality leader with:
Significant experience in general management or multi-site hospitality operations
A strong track record of leading and developing managers
Experience implementing systems and driving operational consistency
The ability to balance commercial outcomes with people-centred leadership
Confidence navigating complexity, growth and change
You are values-led, calm and relational. You lead with both clarity and care. You are motivated by meaningful work and deeply aligned with inclusive employment and social impact.
Why This Role Matters
As we expand at the Abbotsford Convent and strengthen our existing operations, this role will be instrumental in shaping the next era of All Things Equal.
You will help ensure we scale without compromising who we are — maintaining hospitality excellence while deepening our impact for people with disability.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created executive role at a defining moment in our growth.
If you are ready to lead with purpose, build strong operational foundations and help shape the future of inclusive hospitality, we would love to hear from you.
