About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Accountant plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and reliable financial services across the Star Scaffold Group of Companies. This is a hands-on, varied position that supports core financial accounting, reporting, compliance, and payroll activities, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders across the business.
You will be involved in month-end and year-end processes, including preparation of financial and management reports, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, journals, fixed assets, and statutory compliance obligations such as GST, PAYG, superannuation, FBT, and corporate tax. The role also supports budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and job margin analysis, contributing meaningful insights that support informed business decisions.
You may also assist with group consolidation and global reporting requirements, FX payments, asset and stocktake reconciliations, and the maintenance of vehicle fleet leasing records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory obligations.
This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with operational teams, payroll, auditors, banks, and external advisors in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. It is ideally suited to a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with business partnering and continuous improvement, while contributing to a positive team culture and operating in line with workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Proven experience delivering financial accounting services in a corporate or group environment
- Strong technical capability across financial reporting, general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, journals, and fixed assets
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes, including statutory reporting and compliance
- Working knowledge of taxation and statutory obligations, including GST, PAYG, superannuation, FBT, and payroll-related compliance
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis
- Ability to support payroll processes and maintain accurate employee records
- Experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and tax advisors
- Strong systems capability, with experience using ERP financial systems (PRONTO highly regarded) and advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with a high attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across finance, operations, and leadership teams
- A proactive, results-oriented approach with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
