About the job
The SA Water Operations team at Yorketown are looking for their newest Field Technician to join their hard-working team. If you thrive in the outdoors, enjoy hands-on work, and like the variety of no two days being the same, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. This dynamic role focuses on both construction and maintenance, where you’ll work alongside your team to deliver preventative and corrective maintenance, respond to emergencies, and support new construction projects.
About You
As a Field Technician, you bring a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for working outside in a practical, hands-on environment. You communicate effectively, work well independently, and collaborate confidently within a team. You’re driven to apply your problem‑solving and decision‑making skills to complex water systems, always aiming for the best outcome. Ideally, you have experience in a similar role, hold relevant tickets, are confident operating equipment, and are ready to hit the ground running.
About Operations and Maintenance
The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake construction, maintenance, and operational tasks on complex water and wastewater systems.
- Lead water and wastewater investigations, construction, commissioning, laying mains and connections.
- Undertake environmental reporting and acquire relevant permits and approvals.
- Perform manual handling tasks, working at heights and confined space work.
- Put safety above all else, taking responsibility for your safety as well as others.
- Use technology systems and programs in accordance with procedures, and complete electronic reporting.
- Deliver excellent customer service, you will be representing SA Water in the community and strive to maintain a customer focused approach.
- Willingness to work on call (compensated)
- Occasional travel (allowances and compensation included)
Your success in this role will come from:
- Skilled in the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, small machinery and various static and mobile vehicles, plant and machinery
- Previous trade qualifications (desirable)
- Truck (MR & HR) and excavator tickets (desirable)
- Driver's license (essential)
- White Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Available to participate in an on-call roster, and occasional overnight travel
