Sedgman is proud to offer the position of Design Manager to join our team in Brisbane with and Electrical and Controls Engineering background.In this role you will coordinate and direct the design function across our minerals processing and supporting site infrastructure projects in studies, design, and supporting the delivery of projects both in Australia and across the globe.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure project design schedules are created and managed on an ongoing project basis.
- Lead and monitor engineering manhour budgets during project design stages as required and participate in developing engineering manhour budgets during concept, study, tender and detailed design stage as required
- Monitor and evaluate the work of engineers and drafting staff allocated to the project to ensure that their technical competence and performance meet requirements.
- Knowledge of Industry technology solutions, IT/OT networks architecture, industrial network communication protocols, general knowledge of PLC and SCADA, and software validation procedures to meet client requirements as required
- Experience in electrical and instrumentation design, as well as engineering lifecycle processes to ensure technical solutions, quality, schedule and client requirements are met.
- Work in conjunction with Management around resource planning processes to ensure resource requirement for the project’s design are met.
- Administer technical briefs for sub-consultant engagement.
- Prepare and control issue of the Project Design Management Plan.
- Coordinate design interfaces with the Client’s other designers as required.
- Manage Engineers/ Designers to ensure authorisation and issue of documents and drawings to the project team, vendors, sub-consultants, statutory authorities and other as necessary.
- Manage external engineering consultancy entities or subcontractor scope of works to ensure the engineering packages are delivered on time and budget with quality.
- Identify, investigate, record, monitor and report on actions, resolution and costs of identified design non-conformances.
- Understand Sedgman standard specifications, typical/standard drawings, and calculations/simulations to reflect current industry standards.
- Ensure compliance of project design team with the Sedgman’s ‘Design Management Systems’, including NCR’s.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Electrical or Controls Engineering.
Essential Skills, Knowledge And Experience
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience industry experience.
- Experience managing Electrical and or controls-based projects.
- Extensive knowledge on organisation projects and practices.
- Experience in leading and managing technical/project teams.
Desired Skills, Knowledge And Experience
- Coal and/or metals industry experience.
- Experience in heavy industry environment.
