About the role..

Join the Brain Injury Unit (BIU) as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, where your expertise will directly support the rehabilitation and recovery of clients with brain injuries. In this role, you will conduct neuropsychological assessments, provide evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure clients receive tailored care that enhances their cognitive, psychological, and behavioural outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to support diagnosis and rehabilitation planning for clients with brain injuries.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based interventions and behavioural management strategies to enhance cognitive, psychological and functional outcomes.
  • Provide clear, practical recommendations on client capacity (e.g. work, driving, decision-making) and compensatory strategies for clients and families.
  • Prepare high-quality neuropsychological reports and deliver verbal and written feedback to clients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate and consult with medical staff, therapists, case managers and external stakeholders to support integrated, client-centred care.
  • Contribute to team meetings, service improvement initiatives and professional development, while maintaining accurate and compliant clinical documentation.

We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:

Essential Criteria:

  • Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Clinical Neuropsychology endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) with endorsement to practice in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology or eligibility to progress to endorsement through the registrar program.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting neuropsychological assessment, and the ability to adapt standardised approaches to meet the needs of clients with complex disability.
  • Knowledge of recognised diagnostic criteria (e.g., DSM-IV and / or ICD-10) and experience in the application of the same.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing neuropsychological reports for a professional audience, and interpreting reports for a lay audience.
  • Demonstrated competence in interpersonal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
