About the Role

As a Cargo Ramp Crew Leader, you are responsible for leading a team throughout aircraft arrivals, turnarounds, and departure operations, ensuring operations are delivered in a safe and efficient manner.

In the role, you provide day-to-day direction, coordination, and leadership to team members, ensuring operational standards, safety and on-time performance targets are consistently achieved. You are responsible and accountable for ensuring accurate loading and unloading of aircraft in accordance with load instructions.

Service Delivery

  • Deliver services on behalf of Star Aviation customers, ensuring compliance and safety regulations are always met to the highest standards
  • Allocate work tasks applicable to the aircraft movements, ensuring staff are positioned and equipped appropriately, ensuring adherence to on time performance metrics
  • Ensure timely completion of baggage loading and unloading, aircraft marshalling, GPU and tug operations, aircraft cabin cleaning, and all other applicable tasks associated with aircraft movements
  • Ensure accurate loading and unloading of aircraft in accordance with load instructions provided by the airline
  • Ensure baggage reconciliation is completed in line with aircraft requirements
  • Responsible for courteous, prompt, accurate and careful handling of air freight and company material
  • Represent both the Airline and Star to the highest-level ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Report to the on-shift Duty Manager in a timely manner on any issues or activities likely to influence operations or relations with airline customers
  • Communicate effectively with both Star Aviation and Airline representatives
  • Ensure compliance with all Uniform & PPE requirements

People and Shift Management

  • Manage key personnel ensuring the operations are being delivered in an efficient and safe manner
  • Conduct pre and post flight briefings to ensure key personnel are aware of operational requirements
  • Always lead by example, ensuring yourself and your team act in accordance with Star Aviation guidelines and appropriate professional standards
  • Drive a safety culture through your team, ensuring compliance with both the Airline, Airport and Star Aviation requirements
  • Identify and resolve problems/conflict at ground level
  • Reporting matters of significance in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders

Management of GSE

  • Ensure the safe and secure operation of all equipment
  • Report equipment malfunction to the on-shift Duty Manager
  • Test all relevant equipment for serviceability before use via company process

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience managing and or leading a team
