About the Role

Join the Emergency Department (ED) at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH), the major rural referral hospital for the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. This is an excellent opportunity for registrar‑level doctors (non‑ACEM trainees) to gain broad ED experience in a busy regional centre, supported by a friendly and enthusiastic team.

WWBH ED sees over 45,000 presentations annually, including trauma, paediatrics, general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, orthopaedics, and mental health. The hospital is a regional trauma, stroke, and PCI centre, with access to interventional cardiology and radiology services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based emergency care across diverse presentations
  • Participate in rotations across ED areas including the Emergency Department Short Stay Unit (EMU)
  • Manage trauma cases, critical care procedures, and paediatric presentations
  • Engage in ACEM‑accredited teaching programs (WESTEND) with paid protected teaching time
  • Contribute to research, trauma grand rounds, and M&M programs
  • Support medical student learning through ties with UNSW and University of Notre Dame

Requirements & Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent, registered with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Eligible for unconditional registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a public hospital setting
  • Competency in advanced life support procedures (intubation, central lines, arterial lines, intercostal catheters)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Commitment to professional development, patient safety, and quality improvement
