Role title: Business Analyst

Role type: Max term contract full time (until April 2027)

Role grade: Health Services Manager Grade Level 3

Department and location: Decision Support & Insights, Quality, Performance & Improvement Directorate, St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst

Salary: $132,236.00 - $150,222.00 +super +salary packaging

Better and fairer care. Always.

We are St Vincent’s Health Australia, Australia’s largest not-for-profit provider of health and aged care services.

Founded by The Sisters of Charity in 1857, our +30,000 healthcare superheroes operate public and private hospitals, residential aged care, community and virtual care, and outreach programs.

About the role

Join the Decision Support & Insights (DSI) team and help shape how St Vincent's Health Network Sydney uses data to drive clinical, operational and strategic decision-making. As our Business Analyst, you will:

  • Deliver Analytical Solutions: Design and build dashboards, ad hoc analyses and reports using Power BI that translate complex healthcare data into decision-ready insights for clinical and executive audiences.
  • Drive Automation & Innovation: Identify and implement opportunities to automate processes using Power Automate and AI-assisted approaches.
  • Bridge Business and Data: Elicit requirements from clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders, document business processes and translate needs into fit-for-purpose analytical and technical solutions.
  • Impact Patient Care: Support priority projects and business cases where analytical outputs directly shape patient care, clinical quality and service improvement.
  • Strengthen Data Culture: Build analytical capability across the Network through end-user training, documentation and knowledge-sharing as the organisation prepares for a major digital transformation.

About you

You're a practical problem-solver with strong technical foundations who can move confidently between stakeholder conversations and hands-on analytical work. To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Formal qualifications in business analysis, information systems, data science, health informatics, statistics or a related discipline — or equivalent demonstrated experience in an analytical role.
  • Demonstrated experience performing data analysis and ETL processes using tools such as Excel, SQL, Python or R, with the ability to work across complex datasets — ideally in a healthcare context.
  • High proficiency in Power BI and DAX, with experience designing reproducible, well-documented dashboards and analytical products that support evidence-informed decision-making.
  • Proven ability to elicit business requirements, translate them into functional specifications, and deliver solutions end-to-end — including testing, documentation and stakeholder training across concurrent priorities.
  • A self-directed learner who can pick up unfamiliar tools, datasets and domain knowledge rapidly, and shift comfortably between project work and urgent ad hoc requests as priorities shift.

Why work at St Vincent’s?

  • Join us on our mission to provide care to all, including the most at-risk people in our community
  • Discounted access to many gyms for you and your family with Fitness Passport
  • Access to discounted private health insurance with Medibank
  • Access to a government salary sacrifice program. Make a proportion of your salary tax-free
  • Committed to financial support for educational development, scholarship programs, paid study leave
